Wrinkle treatment with Botox
Botox is a highly effective beauty treatment for reducing expression lines and has been used in aesthetics for decades.
At a young age, there are only a few recognizable wrinkles, but later these dominate the facial expression. The youthfully smooth forehead is suddenly characterized by deep furrows. Many people find the progression of wrinkles and unsightly lines on the face a tiresome problem. As a result, more and more patients are visiting medical practices for anti-wrinkle beauty treatments.
It is also noticeable that patients are getting younger and younger. A new trend can be seen in which Botox treatments are no longer only used to treat existing wrinkles, but are also in demand for the prevention of wrinkles. Patients are having Botox treatments even though there are hardly any wrinkles to be seen. This shows that Botox has become very popular as a preventative treatment method against wrinkles in aesthetic treatment practices.

How do wrinkles develop?
Facial wrinkles generally develop over the course of a lifetime due to a decrease in the elastic fibers of the skin and a loss of fat and connective tissue. Furthermore, the musculature with its mimic muscles is also significantly involved in the development of wrinkles. Wrinkles that can be deliberately caused on the face - by tensing certain muscles, such as when frowning - are considered expression lines.
Some people have pronounced mimic muscles here. They can move this muscle very often or very strongly. If contractions of the muscle area are repeated frequently, they can lead to a "notching" of the wrinkles. In colloquial language, these wrinkles are also known as "frown lines", "frown lines" or "crow's feet". Such wrinkles can become so ingrained from the age of 20 that they are visible even when you relax. As a result, those affected often appear angry or sad, even though they don't want to be.
The aim here is to visibly smooth out annoying wrinkles while preserving facial expressions. A professional Botox treatment achieves the effect of a refreshed and fresh appearance without appearing artificial.

Effectiveness and frequency of Botox treatment
As a general rule, the more active your muscles are and the deeper the existing facial wrinkles are, the shorter the intervals between Botox treatments should be. As a rule, the treatment lasts 3-6 months, depending on the region. Most of our patients undergo the treatment 2-3 times a year.
After the Botox treatment
We inject Botox very precisely into the muscles that cause the wrinkles. Until the effect of the Botox wrinkle treatment sets in, which can be expected after about a week, it is important that no great pressure is applied to the treatment area. For example, a cosmetic treatment involving cleansing with a lot of pressure or a facial massage should only be carried out after a week. You should also avoid saunas, steam baths or solarium/sunbathing for this period, as an increased body temperature can reduce the duration of action of the BTX. However, you can continue with your usual facial care or sports activities.

Dosage for Botox treatment
Botox treatment can be used to counteract the development of deeper wrinkles. Depending on the dose, the muscles relax and the affected area is gradually smoothed. Before a Botox treatment, a detailed consultation and careful planning are very important. The patient's wishes and ideas should be taken into account.
Botox treatment procedure at OmniMed
A detailed consultation will be held with you at your first appointment. If you wish, we can start the treatment on the same day. All Botox treatments are always divided into 2 sessions, which has the advantage that over-injections and an "artificial facial expression" can be avoided.

If the treatment is repeated in the same area, the so-called "Botox effect" occurs. This means that the muscles increasingly forget how to form wrinkles and the result lasts longer and longer.
It is important to only be treated with Botox by a doctor with the necessary experience in wrinkle treatment. Find out whether the doctor carries out this treatment conscientiously and not just "on the side". A comprehensive consultation and a detailed analysis of your wishes, goals and - very importantly - limitations are a must.
If too high doses are used or the wrong places are used, the dreaded mask faces or faces with unnatural facial expressions as seen in various media are created.
We live in a society where an attractive appearance is an important aspect of our lives. By reducing disturbing factors, those affected gain more self-confidence and well-being.

Angst oder Respekt vor einer Botoxbehandlung?
Some patients have reservations about having Botox injected as it is known to be a toxin produced by bacteria. But as is often the case
medicine, the dose is also the decisive factor in this case. Botulinum toxin, also known as Botox, is actually a drug that is capable of selectively weakening the muscle action of individual muscles. Botox is used on a daily basis for medical purposes in neurology, for example, to alleviate problems with muscle spasms (blepharospasm, torticollis, spasticity). Many drugs used in medicine are poisons, but the guiding principle here is: "The dose makes the poison". Only a safe amount is used in a Botox wrinkle treatment, so you don't have to worry. The so-called therapeutic range of botulinum toxin is very large. This means that you would have to inject around 50 ampoules of Botox for it to become toxic to humans.
There are different types of Botox; BTX-A is usually used for aesthetic treatments. Botox works by blocking the transmission of information from the nerves to the muscle, so that muscle contraction is prevented to the desired extent depending on the dose and, above all, according to your wishes. This means that the treated muscle can no longer be tensed as strongly afterwards.
Limits of Botox treatment
When using Botox, we do not treat the wrinkles themselves, but their cause. This means that we weaken the affected muscles in order to achieve the smoothest possible appearance. If deep wrinkles are already present before the treatment, a combination treatment with hyaluronic acid may be indicated. We will discuss this during the consultation.

FAQs on Botox treatment
Botox has been used successfully for decades to reduce expression lines. It can also be used as a preventative treatment method against wrinkles.
On average, Botox treatment lasts 3 to 6 months, depending on the region. The exact effectiveness depends on the muscle activity and the depth of the existing wrinkles.
It takes a week for the Botox to take full effect. During this time, no great pressure should be exerted on the treatment area, as is the case with intensive cosmetic treatments or facial massages, for example. Patients should also avoid saunas, steam baths, solariums and sunbathing. Sport and daily facial care, on the other hand, are not a problem.
The first step in a Botox treatment at OmniMed is a detailed consultation, after which we can - if desired - start the treatment straight away. At OmniMed, injections are always divided into two appointments within 14 days to avoid over-injections.
As is so often the case in medicine, the credo "the dose makes the poison" also applies to Botox. Botox injections should only be carried out by doctors with experience in this field who have the necessary knowledge of dosage and injection site.
The so-called Botox effect occurs when the Botox treatment is repeated several times in the same area. The permanent relaxation causes the muscles to increasingly forget how to form wrinkles, which means that the results of the treatment last longer.
If patients already have deeply indented wrinkles, Botox treatment alone can sometimes no longer lead to the desired results. In this case, we recommend a combination treatment of Botox and hyaluronic acid.
The cost of Botox injections depends on the treatment area and therefore on the amount used. The price for treating frown lines starts at €270, while combined treatment of frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead wrinkles starts at €470. For the treatment of excessive sweating, the cost starts at €700 for the armpits, palms, or soles of the feet.
