Botox injections at OmniMed stop excessive sweating

OmniMed Hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating in problem areas

Hyperhidrosis (= excessive sweat production) is often an enormous burden for many women and men in their daily lives. It cannot be equated with physiological sweating, such as during physical exertion, as it occurs spontaneously and uncontrollably.

Regional areas such as the armpits, hands or feet are usually affected, with the sweat glands receiving the impulse to produce sweat from the involuntary nervous system.

Treatment against hyperhidrosis

The nerve transmission to the sweat glands can be chemically inhibited with Botox. This is precisely the point at which the treatment of hyperhidrosis starts. Nerve impulses that stimulate sweat production are blocked by targeted injections of the active ingredient.

The botulinum toxin is delivered to the site of action in small quantities through very fine needles, without any surgical intervention. Other nerve functions are not impaired in the process.

Treatment process at OmniMed

We carry out a Minor sweat test on every patient before every treatment. In the Minor sweat test, the hyperhidrotic area is first cleaned with an iodine-containing solution (Betaisodona) and then dusted with starch powder.

In the area of increased sweating, this results in a dark purple discoloration in the area. This test allows a visual representation of the problem areas, in which the dose can then be adjusted.

Approximately one week after application, the medication takes effect and helps the sufferer to be pleasantly "sweat-free" for about a year.

FAQs on hyperhidrosis treatment for excessive sweating

Hyperhidrosis refers to excessive sweat production that occurs regardless of temperature or physical activity - particularly frequently under the armpits, on the hands, feet or face.

At OmniMed, excessive sweating is treated specifically with botulinum toxin (Botox). This involves blocking the nerve impulses that activate the sweat glands.

The affected areas are marked and the Botox is injected in small quantities using very fine needles. The treatment takes around 15-30 minutes and is virtually painless.

As a rule, no anesthetic is required. However, an anesthetic cream can be applied on request to make the treatment even more comfortable.

The effect usually sets in after a week and lasts for up to a year.

Typical areas are the armpits, the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet

In the armpit area, the treatment is well tolerated and virtually painless. In the area of the hands and feet, however, the treatment is perceived as painful.

The method is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding or in the case of certain neurological diseases. Individual suitability is clarified in a detailed consultation.

The treatment is outpatient and does not require any downtime. However, sport and sauna should be avoided for 1-2 days.
