Dermapen microneedling at OmniMed
Microneedling treatment in Eisenstadt and Klagenfurt
Microneedling therapy is a successful minimally invasive treatment concept to improve the appearance of the skin for a firm and fresh appearance. Microneedling has found its way into medical literature through the term collagen induction therapy (CIT). Micro-injuries are made to the skin using many small needle pricks. These barely visible injuries activate the body's own healing process and stimulate the skin to produce new collagen and elastin. This improves the elasticity of the skin. It becomes firmer and more even overall. The result is a rosy and fresh complexion. The treatment is also suitable as an anti-ageing treatment for young patients, for example to prevent the formation of wrinkles and slow down the skin ageing process.
Microneedling treatment is also an effective way of improving the appearance of problematic skin breakouts and active acne. Small scars and pigment shifts are reduced and the skin's appearance is renewed. We recommend regular treatments for long-term success.

Treatment procedure with Dermapen4
- The first step is to carefully clean and disinfect the area to be treated. Then, if desired, an anesthetic gel is applied, which works for 15-20 minutes.
- After removal of the anesthetic gel and disinfection, the Dermapen4 is used several times with gentle movements and without pressure to treat the area to be treated to a maximum depth of 2 mm in the facial area and 3 mm in the body area, whereby high-quality serums are applied to the treatment area for optimum effect, depending on the indication.
- After applying the fluids or PRP autologous blood, there is an approx. 10-minute resting phase to ensure effective infiltration of the active ingredients into the skin.
- A soothing and moisturizing mask is then applied to the treated area.
Number of treatments
Depending on the indication and degree of severity, we advise our patients individually and in line with their specific requirements and wishes. In order to improve the appearance of the skin in the long term, we recommend microneedling treatment with the Dermapen 3-6 times at monthly intervals. Long-term success is achieved when used as a cure. We recommend 1 to 2 treatments per year as a refresher.

Background knowledge collagen induction therapy
Microneedling has found its way into medical literature under the name Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). The way the dermaroller or dermapen works is a very complex physiological process. Microneedling stimulates skin cells to reproduce and proliferate. The penetration of microneedles, however thin they may be, is registered by the approximately 200 nerve receptors/cm² of the skin as an injury or at least as an injury stimulus (injuries are defined as the separation of tissue connections, which cannot even occur with microneedles). This stimulus, which can also be called an alarm stimulus, is transmitted electrically to the surrounding cells of the puncture channel - not far, approx. 0.5 to 1 mm.
Even though the atraumatic (non-injurious) microneedles have been proven not to destroy tissue, the cascade of the wound healing process still takes place. Skin stem cells and other non-differentiated cells are stimulated by electrical signals and electromagnetic fields to divide and new cells, such as fibroblasts, the true architects of the skin, rush to close the wound. There, fibroblasts synthesize new collagen fibres to close the (supposed) wound.
Simply described: If fibroblasts and their collagen fibers were firefighters, they would be very surprised when they arrived at the "apparent" injury site: There is no wound, because the puncture channel, which is around 0.1 mm in diameter, has long since been closed by the elasticity of the skin. As collagen fibers can no longer transform back, they have no choice but to integrate into the existing skin structure, unintentionally reinforcing it. However, certain growth factors ensure that this integration into the collagen network takes place in an orderly fashion and does not end in a scar. Incidentally, microneedling stimulates the same growth factors (TGF β3) that ensure that the injury to an embryo in the womb closes without scarring.
