Salmon sperm, in particular the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) it contains, is used in aesthetic medicine as a regenerative ingredient. The DNA from salmon sperm is often referred to as polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) and has been shown to have skin-regenerating, anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. Treatment with polynucleotides is generally well tolerated and only slightly uncomfortable. If necessary, an anaesthetic cream can be applied to minimize the sensation during the injection. Pain is usually minimal and subsides quickly.
The recovery time after treatment with polynucleotides is usually short. Slight redness or swelling may occur, but this usually subsides within 24 to 48 hours. You can usually resume your daily activities immediately after the treatment.
