Freezing away the double chin - how CoolSculpting works

For the removal of a double chin during CoolSculpting, a vacuum applicator with cooling plates is placed on the fat tissue between the neck and the chin. This causes the fat layer to be suctioned and then cooled to 4 degrees Celsius using the cooling plates.

The fat cells are reduced by the cold treatment without affecting the muscles or skin. The patient may feel a slight pulling sensation caused by the cooling. After a few minutes, the cold sensation subsides. The dead fat cells are now broken down naturally by the body.

After the cold treatment the applicator is removed and the treatment area is gently massaged for two minutes. You will see the full effect of the treatment after approximately 2-3 months,. The treatment takes 45 minutes and costs 750,–.

People who have a double chin are usually very unhappy with it. Why do I get a double chin, is it genetic? Or a mixture of genes and lifestyle?

Familial clusters can be clearly identified, so genetic factors definitely play a role. Of course, an unhealthy lifestyle also contributes to the development of a double chin, as fat deposits are much more pronounced in overweight people.

Can I influence this through diet, exercise, etc.?

The development of a double chin can be positively influenced by weight reduction. A lifestyle that does not exclude sport and a healthy diet definitely contributes to a BMI in the normal range. CoolSculpting is the original procedure, which has been declared a safe and efficient procedure by regulatory authorities. A very rare complication is fat tissue hyperplasia (increase), occurring at a rate of 1:35000.

Is this method suitable for everyone? Young? Old?

CoolSculpting can be used from the age of 18 and is suitable for "young" and "old" alike. A prior consultation is important, as not all patients are suitable for the CoolSculpting method. If there is excess skin, a surgical procedure would be preferable in any case. During the consultation, the problem areas are examined in more detail and the patient is advised which procedure is "right" for them.

What does a treatment cost? How long does it take? Is one treatment sufficient?

The costs of the treatment start at 750,-. The treatment is completed after 45 minutes.
Most of the time a single session is sufficient; however, in the case of a very pronounced double chin another session may be necessary.

Is the double chin coming back?

The fatty tissue is permanently broken down by the body's own processes. New fat cells cannot form again. If the weight is maintained, the remaining fat cells do not become larger and therefore cannot diminish the result.
