Hylase for the dissolution of hyaluronic acid

Injections with hyaluronic acid usually proceed without complications, but problems can occur in rare cases. The great advantage and therefore safety aspect of hyaluronic acid is that there is an effective antidote for hyaluronic acid called hylase, which can be used to dissolve the gel again.

Hyaluronic acid has the property of plumping up the treatment area, which is actually the desired effect. However, if the effect is not as desired, it is possible to dissolve the gel again, regardless of the manufacturer (Teosyal, Juvederm, Belotero, Restylane, Princess, etc.).

Lumps, lumps or bumps?

During treatment with hyaluronic acid for wrinkle injections, Liquid Lifting or the injection of the lips (lip augmentation) the hyaluron is pressed into the tissue. After the gel has left the needle or cannula, it follows the path of least resistance. If this is different from what the practitioner assumed, the hyaluronic acid will not be ideally placed, which leads the patient to believe that the doctor injected incorrectly. Occasionally, the hyaluronic acid can take a different path in the body and thus settle in the wrong place.

It is not always true to speak of a treatment error at this point, but hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hylase and undesirable side effects of the treatment can be reversed.

Hylase - Hyaluronidase

Hylase is an enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid. The drug converts the cross-linked hyaluronic acid into a liquid, water-like mass. There are many myths surrounding the use of hylase, but in experienced hands it can be used to improve problems such as lumps, a Tyndall effect, bulges, bumps and general over-injection after hyaluronic acid treatments.

Does hylase dissolve the body's own hyaluron?

Hylase is a very potent agent that should be dosed carefully. This enzyme is also able to dissolve the body's own hyaluronic acid, but there is a constant and natural build-up and breakdown of hylauronic acid every day.

Hyaluronidase = Hylase should be used carefully and cautiously. We are of the opinion that partial dissolutions with Hylase should be used for injections as well as for the dissolution of hyaluronic acid, rather than using the full dose straight away.

A special case is, of course, the use as an emergency medication after a vascular occlusion, where generous doses should be used.

Dissolving hyaluronic acid at Omnimed?

We have experience in correcting after hyaluronic acid treatments.

The correction or dissolution of a lump in the lip area, for example, is a minor procedure that should not be feared. However, the assessment after lip treatment should only be carried out 2 weeks after the injection. If desired, a local anesthetic with an ointment can be applied prior to the treatment. After dissolution with Hylase, we allow approx. 14 days to pass before carrying out a new treatment in the same area.

When dissolving or improving a Tyndall effect it is often sufficient to use only a small amount of Hyaluronidase to use.
