Medical laser hair removal for smooth skin

It's that time again: warm temperatures, sun-kissed skin covered with droplets of water and the smell of sunscreen. It's natural that especially at this time of year many also desire flawlessly smooth skin to have.

The most effective method of hair removal is laser hair removal. It has the advantage that it can free your skin long-term rid your skin of unwanted hairs can. Shaving, epilating and the like therefore become unnecessary. In addition, not only do women like to have their unwanted hair lasered away, but men also appreciate medical laser hair removal.

Laser systems from Alma

At OmniMed, we have three highly specific medical laser systems that specialize in hair removal:

All three of our laser systems use the SHR technology. This enables laser hair removal of hairs of all colors and on all skin tones with the same effectiveness. The treatment is therefore possible in summer and on tanned skin, because SHR works very gently and at the same time efficiently.

IPL or laser hair removal?

Another method of hair removal is IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). Flash lamps are used for hair removal. The wavelength for IPL is approx. 500–1200 nm, and it scatters across multiple layers. As a result it cannot penetrate as well as a laser. Thus a lower temperature reaches the hair follicle, which makes hair removal with IPL less effective than with a laser.

Laser hair removal is performed by specifically working with one or more specific wavelengths. The concentrated light pulse of the laser acts directly on the hair follicles and thus causes long-lasting damage to the roots of unwanted hairs. Although higher temperatures are used with the laser, the treatment is associated with little pain. Because laser hair removal works more intensively, there are best results and Satisfaction guaranteed.

Treatment areas for laser hair removal:

A medical laser hair removal can be performed on any part of the body where there is hair growth. For example, the upper lip, chin, neck, eyebrows, sideburns, armpits, upper arms and/or forearms, thighs and/or lower legs, abdomen, shoulders, buttocks, anal area, bikini line (for women), intimate area (for women and men), groin (for men) and nape/collar can be lasered. A laser treatment is also excellent for beardline correction.

Number and duration of sessions

Of course, the duration of the treatment always depends on the body area to be lasered. But on average a session for laser hair removal in our practices in Eisenstadt and Klagenfurt lasts 5-30 minutes.

The number of required sessions also varies individually. To remove unwanted hair long-term, usually about 5 treatments are necessary, which should be carried out at intervals of 6 to 8 weeks. This is due to the growth phase of body hair – because the laser only reaches the hairs when they are in this phase. At any time this is about 15–20% of the hairs.

We also recommend touch-up treatments to secure your smooth result. Therefore, depending on the area as well as skin and hair type, we recommend a touch-up every 6 months to every 1.5 years.
