Treatment procedure

Vascular laser against couperose & red veins

Consultation: At the beginning, a precise analysis of the skin is carried out. The affected vessels, their extent, and the skin type are assessed. In a personal consultation it is determined which areas should be treated and which results are realistically achievable.

Treatment: During the treatment, targeted light pulses are applied to the dilated vessels. These are heated by the energy and selectively sealed. The surrounding tissue is largely spared, as the laser light—due to its specific wavelength—acts only on the blood vessel.

Follow-up treatments: In terms of the number of treatments, it depends on the degree of the vascular lesion and the treatment area. In the case of hemangiomas, spider naevi or mild couperose, often only a few treatment sessions are sufficient. For larger vessels or areas, several treatments may be necessary. A follow-up appointment to optimize the result is scheduled after about 4 weeks.

Care instructions: The areas to be treated should not be too tanned, as they are more sensitive to the light energy. Intense sun exposure before and after the treatment should be avoided. In addition, it is recommended to refrain from sauna visits for about 14 days after the treatment, as high temperatures can affect the result. If intense sun exposure is unavoidable, a sunscreen with a high SPF is recommended. Occasionally small crusts may appear, which fall off by themselves after a few days.

Vascular laser

Reddish vascular changes on the face or elsewhere on the body are perceived by many patients as cosmetically bothersome. With our specially powerful vascular laser KTP Laser IDAS, we can treat smaller areas in an effective and at the same time gentle way small red veins successfully treat, for example, couperose.

How the vascular laser works

The IDAS laser system uses green light with a wavelength of 532 nm. During the laser treatment, a precisely targeted beam of light penetrates the skin and is absorbed in the vessel by red blood cells (hemoglobin). This heating inside the vessel leads to a collapse of the vessel walls, which fold in on themselves, interrupt the blood flow and become permanently sealed. Unsightly vessels or pigment changes on the face and body are thus treated in a targeted and effective manner. Often red veins are noticeably reduced after just one treatment.

The epidermis and the surrounding tissue are spared, because this targeted light at a specific wavelength acts only on the blood vessel. The IDAS possesses an optimal wavelength for the treatment of superficial vascular lesions.

Gentle and virtually pain-free treatment

KTP laser treatment is significantly faster, more effective, and less painful than comparable laser systems. For particularly sensitive areas of the face and for young children, an anesthetic cream can be applied before treatment.
