Tattoo removal with laser at OmniMed
Tattoo removal with Nd:YAG laser
A tattoo removal that magically removes the tattoo you no longer want, and in no time at all and without any visible traces of the removal? How realistic is that? And can all tattoo removal lasers meet these requirements? The fact is that there are many different devices on the market and consumers can quickly feel overwhelmed when it comes to choosing the right one. Since the beginning of 2022, we have been offering tattoo removal with the new Harmony XL PRO from Alma. This powerful multi-technology platform impresses with a large selection of attachments for a wide range of treatments. We use the ClearLift applicator to remove tattoos, harnessing the power of the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser for a gentle, safe and effective treatment. It can also be used to remove multi-colored tattoos.

Why use Harmony XL for tattoo removal?
In addition to the fact that multi-colored tattoos can also be removed with this laser, another strength of the system lies in the possibility of pretreating the tattoo with a special fractionated handpiece. This makes tattoo removal more effective and, above all, gentler for the patient.
Fractional pre-treatment with the Pixel handpiece creates tiny holes in the epidermis (top layer of skin). This pre-treatment relieves pressure after tattoo removal. Due to the tiny openings in the uppermost layer of skin, there is a significant reduction in tissue pressure and blister formation is avoided. As a result, the tattoo ink comes out more easily and the treatment area heals more quickly.
In addition to the significant increase in patient comfort, the treatment is more efficient as more tattoo ink is released per session and more energy can be used at the same time. Another advantage of fractional pre-treatment is the fact that this type of fractional treatment is actually used to treat scar tissue, thus counteracting existing scar tissue.
What is the procedure if I decide to have my tattoo removed at OmniMed Eisenstadt?
In a detailed consultation, you will be informed about the treatment, open questions will be clarified and the exact costs of tattoo removal will be discussed. After the consultation, treatment can begin immediately if desired. We also carry out detailed photo documentation.
How many treatments are necessary?
The number of treatments depends on many factors. If it is a recently engraved tattoo that still contains a lot of color, a higher number of treatments must be assumed in any case than for older, slightly faded tattoos, which may already be removed after 3 sessions.
Self-engraved tattoos are generally quicker to remove than those engraved by a professional. It therefore depends on the age of the tattoo and the ink color used.
The fractional pre-treatment of the tattoo reduces the number of treatments required in any case, as an increased amount of ink color can come out with each session and you can laser with higher energy.
What do I need to consider before and after the treatment?
The tissue should be intact for the treatment, i.e. it should be free of irritation. The degree of tanning of the skin is always an issue when removing tattoos. Dark tattoo colors such as black or blue are less sensitive, even when removed from tanned skin. With lighter tattoo colors on tanned skin, it is better to wait until the skin color becomes lighter again. Sun and solarium should therefore be avoided before tattoo removal. This should be discussed individually during a consultation.
After treatment, a healing ointment is applied and the area is covered with a loose bandage, which can be left in place for 1-3 days, provided it does not get wet. After a few days, a crust will form as color particles are shed in the form of a crust. As soon as the crust has fallen off, the bandage or plaster can be removed and a healing ointment applied. This supports and accelerates the healing process and can be obtained from our surgery.
During the tattoo removal period, which usually consists of several treatments, the treatment area should be protected from intense sunlight. If the removal is urgent and the tattoo removal is to take place during the summer months, the regular use of patches is recommended.
A follow-up treatment can be carried out as soon as the treatment area has completely healed.
What are the risks?
The fractional mode we use prevents the otherwise dreaded formation of blisters and thus reduces the occurrence of scarring. However, subsequent scarring cannot be completely ruled out, as every person can react differently, but we counteract this with fractional treatment.
With regard to pigment shifts, we recommend protection from intense sunlight - we will inform you in detail about this at your first appointment.
All in all, tattoo removal is a delicate subject and side effects are always possible due to the diversity of tattoos. Unfortunately, it is not possible to rule them out completely.
Is the treatment painful?
We work with a special "Homogenius handpiece" for tattoo removal, which, as the name suggests, leads to homogeneous energy absorption in the tissue. This avoids "hot spots" and allows ideal coverage of the treatment area without overlapping.
This enables us to make tattoo removal as painless as possible. We also have a separate cooling system for very sensitive areas.
