Redness on the face
The older you get, the more your skin color, texture and, of course, elasticity gradually begin to change. Redness on the face is a problem that sooner or later begins to bother some people from an aesthetic point of view.
Temporary redness on the cheeks and tip of the nose, triggered by cold or heat, is completely natural and is caused by a temporary increase in blood flow to the superficial capillaries. However, if the redness is permanent and small red veins are constantly dilated, the blood backs up in them and a vascular network becomes clearly visible. These rednesses are primarily vascular dilatations, medically known as telangiectasias, which are not a disease but are primarily a cosmetic problem. Unfortunately, reddened noses are all too often misinterpreted as "drinker's noses".
This redness on the face, known medically as couperose, usually has a genetic cause and can be exacerbated by various extrinsic factors. A constitutional cause is strongly assumed because, as in so many areas, women are again slightly disadvantaged. A weakness of the connective tissue and external factors such as strong temperature fluctuations, sun exposure, nicotine or caffeine consumption, alcohol, spicy foods etc. promote the progression.
The word "couperose" comes from the French and means "copper rose", as the cheeks can look copper-red. If the couperose is more and more pronounced and there is also inflammation, then we may be talking about rosacea , the "pink disease".
The treatment of redness on the face - couperose & rosacea
Good news for all those who are bothered by unsightly redness on the face: They can be treated with special lasers. The vascular laser of the IDAS system is a targeted and gentle method of laser removal of veins. As a specialist for superficial changes, this laser system is one of the most modern and effective laser systems on the market. Particularly short pulses with high energy treat disturbing redness in a targeted and particularly gentle manner without causing excessive stress to the surrounding tissue.
The light impulse is absorbed by the red blood pigment and converted into heat. The blood coagulates and the blood vessel clots and is subsequently broken down by the body. The treatments are virtually painless thanks to this special laser.
Vascular indications such as telangiectasia, couperose, rosacea, hemangiomas and spider nevi respond with exceptionally good results to treatment with this laser. A single session is often enough to eliminate or significantly reduce redness. Immediately after treatment, the area may swell slightly and show general redness. Depending on the size of the treated area, this reaction may be absent to mild or severe for 2-3 days. Sometimes small, punctiform, barely noticeable crusts appear, which can easily be covered with make-up and disappear on their own after a few days, leaving behind a beautifully even complexion. Special healing ointments can speed up this process a little. If necessary, a follow-up treatment can be carried out every 5-6 weeks. The skin is usually more sensitive to light after the treatment, which is why intensive sunbathing should be avoided for the first two weeks and sunscreen should be used.
So nothing stands in the way of a harmonious complexion!
