LED light therapy in aesthetics

Now that the light from LED lamps has been successfully used in medicine to treat skin diseases for some time, the aesthetics segment has also discovered this advanced technology for itself. Red LED lamps are integrated into the light therapy mask used for this purpose. These stimulate anti-ageing processes in a process known as photomodulation. The LED light prevents the breakdown of collagen, improves blood circulation and thus tightens the skin. We also call this process photorejuvenation - i.e. rejuvenation through light.

Red LED light for the skin

Why is red light of all things used in LED light therapy? Because its wavelength of 580 to 660 nm allows it to penetrate deepest into the skin. There it stimulates collagen production, reduces UV damage and refines the pores. As the red light also releases anti-inflammatory and repairing mechanisms in the tissue, doctors also use it to treat acne. To understand how light affects our skin, we need to look beneath the skin's surface: The elastic fibers in the tissue are surrounded by water molecules. The older we get, the thicker this water film becomes. The red LED light breaks down this film, stimulating cell growth and collagen production. As a result, the fibers regain their elasticity and wrinkles and the skin surface are smoothed.
