Tattoo removal with the Harmony XL Pro
There are numerous laser tattoo removal devices on the market, which can quickly lead to confusion. At OmniMed, we have been using the versatile Harmony XL Pro since 2022 to ensure particularly fast and gentle tattoo removal - without leaving any visible marks. Thanks to the numerous attachments, we can optimally adapt the treatment to the individual needs of the patient, which means that many multi-colored tattoos can also be removed.
Among the various applicators of the Harmony XL Pro, we at OmniMed have opted for the award-winning ClearLift applicator. This works with the optimal wavelength to successfully remove both dark and light colors. The particularly short pulses are gentle on the surrounding tissue, which significantly reduces the risk of scarring.
How does laser tattoo removal work?
Due to the numerous advantages, we rely on fractional pre-treatment for tattoo removal. This involves making tiny micro-holes in the top layer of skin using a special handpiece. This allows the tattoo ink to escape without forming blisters. The method makes the treatment significantly more efficient, as considerably more ink can be removed per session. As fractional pre-treatment is also used in scar treatment, it also helps to minimize the risk of tension blisters and subsequent scarring.
How many treatments are ultimately necessary depends very much on the age and size of the tattoo. Freshly engraved tattoos are always more stubborn than those that have already faded somewhat. For older tattoos, 3 sessions can therefore often be sufficient.
Why fall and winter are ideal for tattoo removal
Autumn and winter are ideal seasons for tattoo removal for several reasons. Firstly, the condition of the skin plays a decisive role: tanned skin can impair the success of the laser treatment and destroy the body's own pigment cells. The lighter the skin, the better and more effectively the tattoo can be removed. It is therefore advisable to avoid going to the solarium before starting treatment.
Another advantage of these seasons is the reduced sun exposure. After each treatment, the skin must be well protected from UV radiation to avoid pigmentation disorders or skin irritation. In autumn and winter, it is easier to protect the skin by wearing longer clothing and reducing the intensity of the sun, which supports healing and minimizes the risk of complications.
What else is there to consider?
After a tattoo removal, the treated skin area is first treated with a healing ointment and possibly covered with a thin bandage. This can usually be removed after 1 to 3 days as soon as a protective crust has formed. In order to optimally support healing, the affected area should be regularly treated with a healing ointment even after the dressing has been removed.
It is important to note that despite all precautionary measures, the risk of tension blisters can never be completely ruled out. Although we at OmniMed attach great importance to treating the skin as gently as possible, individual factors such as skin type, depth of the tattoo and the colors used can play a role. The risks vary from patient to patient and should be discussed in detail with our medical team in a comprehensive preliminary consultation. This helps to provide a realistic assessment of the treatment results and potential side effects.
